When you have spent some time becoming comfortable with the symptoms of anxiety and are finding them more tolerable it is time to address any issues that you may be avoiding. It is important to eliminate any avoidance as it works to reinforces anxiety. Facing your fears allows you opportunities to challenge the unhelpful thoughts that are contributing to the anxiety and to regain confidence in your ability to deal with these situations. This is achieved through gradual exposure via a fear hierarchy.
