A 2015 study evaluating Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), an established, known effective therapy for depression and anxiety, has found that supported internet delivery of CBT was effective in treating patients with mild to moderate depression and anxiety.
While internet based therapy may seem like a less personal form of therapy, it is this factor that may allow a more honest and open approach to engaging that can contribute to positive outcomes. It is however, still critically important that you find the right therapist for you. The therapeutic alliance has been shown to be a critical factor in the success of any sort of therapy, so it is important to take the time to find the right fit, someone that you feel comfortable opening up to.
